Magwi, Ayachi citizens flee to Uganda over security fears

MAGWI (19 Mar.)

A large number of local residents in various areas in South Sudan’s Imatong
State are fleeing to neighboring Uganda due to security concerns, according
to local residents.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, citizens in Agoro, Panykwara and
Parajok in Ayachi and Magwi Counties, said people are fleeing to Uganda
everyday due to the insecurity situation in the area.

Joseph Lagu, a local resident in Magwi County, said government soldiers
killed two of his relatives last week when they were looking for an armed
group that attack their military vehicle near the area. Lagu claimed that
the local community decided to cross to Uganda because of rampant
insecurity caused by the SPLA.Radio Tamazuj was unable to reach government
officials to comment on the claim.
