Plane crashes in Wau, witnesses say five killed WAU (20 Mar.) A South Sudanese plane with about 42 passengers on board crashed on Monday afternoon after landing at the airport in Wau town, killing at least five people, witnesses said. The eyewitnesses told Radio Tamazuj that about 22 people were wounded, adding that they were rushed to hospital for treatment. They pointed out that the aircraft belonged to South Supreme Airlines, a privately owned company based in Juba. For his part, Santino Deng, manager of the South Supreme Airlines, told Radio Tamazuj that the plane crashed due to bad weather conditions in Wau. Meanwhile, the Governor of Wau State, Andrea Mayar, said the precise death toll was not immediately clear after the plane crashed soon after landing at the airport. Officials at the Civil Aviation Authority could not immediately be reached for comment.
