A humanitarian coordinator in the SPLM-IO controlled areas in Fashoda State
said there are more than 60,000 civilians fled from their homes in
Panyikang and its surrounding areas after clashes between government troops
and opposition fighters recently.

In a statement seen by Radio Tamazuj, Bathu John, the humanitarian
coordinator in Fashoda, said the conflict-displaced people arrived in Kodok
area, amid harsh humanitarian conditions. John pointed out that dozens of
citizens went missing on their way to Kodok.

The opposition official called on humanitarian organizations to intervene
and deliver humanitarian assistance to the needy people.
