He had gotten a press pass to attend this soiree, thanks to the story that
he reported.  Still, his colleagues had looked at him with a combination
of envy and disdain.

He smiled, though.  Like a terrier who had finally gotten a taste of the
meaty bone, he was hungry.

And he would show them.
