She took a few steps out, and was bumped into by a stranger. He was a tall
man, in his thirties. Brown hair, green eyes, and an embarassed look made
up his face.
"Oh, I am terribly sorry Miss. I did not see you standing there. Guess it
would have helped if I was not reading while I was walking. I am
Commander Sam Roeder, and I am very sorry for bumping into you, miss....."
apologized the man dressed in civie clothing.
Jafira turned to the friendly voice and was immediately caught in the
young officer's friendly eyes. She felt herself blush as she realized
that she was staring while he spoke. "Ummm ... Miss Dais. I mean Jafira
Dais."
"A pleasure to meet you, Miss Jafira Dais. I do hope that you were just
startled, and not more seriously injured. Are you ok?" he asked happy to
meet a pretty young lady (heavy on the young), and honestly concerned
about her well being.
Jafira nodded. "Yes, sir. I am fine. I was not really paying attention
myself. There is so much to see on the station."
That there is, Ms. Dais. Now what is a young lady such as your self doing
on the Promenade at this hour? Shouldn't you be in class?"
Jafira smiled. "Well, sir, I just arrived this morning with my father.
He hasn't had a chance to take me to school to get me registered yet. I have
been unpacking our things since we arrived. I decided to take a meal break
before finishing up."
"Sounds like a good idea. Well then, I should let you get back to your
search for food. If you or your father need anything, please do not
hesitate to contact me. I work for Starfleet Special Projects. Have a good
day, young lady." Sam replied with a smile.
"Thank you, sir. I appreciate the offer. You have a good day yourself,"
she replied as she watched him walk off.
Jafira continued her walk down the Promenade soaking up everything there was
to see. There was so much to see, actually.
