(ooc: since randy and i were in a posting mood, we decided to spare y'all
and put together a combined post.)
"She only asked me to keep an eye on you."
Matt chuckled softly, and headed for the sofa, indicating that she should
make herself comfortable as well. "She worries about me much more than
she needs to," he said simply. "Much more than *I* need her to."
"I think it's because she has it hard for you," Nabru said, taking a seat
nearby. The Antosian looked little different than she had when Matt and
Carrhae had first encountered her in the Rihannsu prison. "Then again, I
think it goes both ways," she continued.
"Oh, it does," he said, quietly. "It very much does." He sighed. "We need
to figure out where she went, and why."
"It is likely that Admiral Lasiter would know?"
"I think it's unlikely that he *wouldn't*," he told her. "The trick," he
said, "will be in getting the info out of him." He finished his cognac and
then stood. "You up for a walk?" he asked her.
"One moment." There was a funny shift in reality, and suddenly the young
security officer sat in Nabru's place. In a mellow baritone, he said,
"Let's go."
He headed out of his quarters and headed toward the Admiral's. It was late
enough the man should have been out of the office. On his doctor's orders.
He waited for the chime to announce him and then stepped in as the door
opened.
Nabru had been accompanied by one other security officer. "Guard the
door," she ordered. "I will accompany the doctor."
"Aye, Sir." If the guard thought anything was unusual, he did not say so.
Once inside, Nabru stood at Brennan's side. She shifted back to the
female form she normally used.
"Admiral," Matt greeted him. No, that was wrong. He wasn't here
officially. "Sam," he corrected himself. "I have a question. I pray that
you will favor me with an answer."
{OOC: Just do not ask me for a time on this meeting.....}
Lasiter was happy to see the Doctor, and his "friend". He welcomed
them and responded.
Nabru briefly and respectully introduced herself to Lasiter.
"That depends on the question, but I will do what I can." he replied
coordially from the seating area in his quarters where the three now
resided.
"Carrhae. Where did she go. And why?"
The change in his mental state was obvious by his body language. At
this time of day, in this particular setting he made no attempt to hide his
thoughts and feelings.
"This is not really a conversation that we need to be having without
first knowing some idea as to where it is going. What are your plans, my
good doctor?" the suspicision was evident in his voice and in his eyes.
Suspicious of a fool hardy action that was sure to not be good.
"Sam," Matt said, this time more softly. "I would urge you not to ask
questions you don't want to know the answers to. Man to man: I'm worried
for her. If I can help her, I need to."
The meaning behind those simple words hit home. it reminded the
aging admiral of his married life and the intense passion that he shared
with his wife. Shared until that one fateful day... He knew what Matt
wanted to do. He knew what he had to do as commanding officer of Starfleet.
That being said he chose option C- be a man, a once married man...
"She is on a mission to meet up with of her deep cover agents. He
has some very important materials to deliver in person. While en route to
her rendez vous she came across a Starfleet ship that was, to say the least
out of place. She is investigating that at the moment. I can give you her
coordinates if you like."
{response}
Lasiter gave Matt the information that he had on what the Romulan Intell
chief was doing.
In parting Lasiter said, "Just do not tell me what you plan on doing, so i
can not be questioned. However, if you run into trouble just call, and help
will be on the way."
{response}
Nabru remained silent during their interchange. She knew the place where
Carrhae was headed first-hand. Trouble was all too easy to find there.
As far as she was concerned, they could not leave too soon.
