As they left, Joe said nothing. Not until they were well gone.

"They are hiding something. Something big. The tactics are quite simple,
drag things out and make things go so slowly that everymove is a waste. Slow
things down so they can make up an airtight cover story and dispose of what
they can not cover. Quite elegant... By the way, nice moves in there. Are
you sure that you hve not done this before?"

A smile was the initial response from the station's XO. "I am positive that
I have never done any sort of criminal investigation, but thank you very
much for the compliment. I simply followed your lead. Besides, I could
sense that he was trying to hide something as well."

"Are you sure you have not does this before... You look like this is old hat
to you..." Joe answered kidding the XO. "But seriously, I think that we
should do some checking on our own into the whereabouts of this courier. How
he got here, where he was before coming here, and the like. The only way
that we are going to resolve this is to be a step or two ahead of Rivik and
the others working for him.

In more than a few of my open cases that I am working, Rivik and others in
the Bajoran Embassy keep coming up. Something is happening in there... When
we meet with them again at 1500, I plan on issuing a material witness order
for the courier. That way we can keep him on the station, and take his
travel papers. I will have to go to a judge to get that, but I think that I
can pull a string or two to have it ready by the time our meeting arrives.
Afterall, we can not have our only witness/suspect leaving on us now can
we...."

Dais nodded. "You are correct. I will try to get a flight plan on his
latest trips for you. It could be helpful in identifying where the hand and
itsowner met up with him."

"See what you can find out. Let's hook up before the meeting at the
embassy, say 1400. We can compare notes and plan our sitdown with the
courier."

"Sounds like a plan," replied the XO. "I will see you then."

With that the two departed. Dais made his way back to Operations. After
checking over the reports, it was clear that all was being handled. He made
his way over to his office and tried to access the passenger lists of the
arriving ships from the previous day, particularly the one that the Bajoran
courier arrived on.

(anything?)
