"I actually like the old man now," she replied easily, "in a lifelong-enemy kind of
way. You can tell him that next time you're in need of
entertainment."
Garibaldi let out a little chuckle. "Perhaps when we get past the part when the
crap hit's the fan." The smile was still on his face...

She laughed. "That would be quite a combination, wouldn't it? Things are pretty open
right now, and I've not actually asked what his take on it is. Last serious
relationship I was in was over 200 of your years ago. And he's going off to be a
'proper' Starfleet officer on some mission. Maybe you can recommend me another good
officer, one who's stationed around here and needs
some proper corrupting?"
"Hold ona minute... I don't play match maker any more. I learned my lesson when I
tried that with the CinC after he and his wife separated and after she died. It was
not pretty. I will say that he looks at you very fondly. Just do yourself and me a
favor and if you have to break it off, do it kindly. If he is like his old man, and I
think he is, he will remain a friend of yours long after."
"Since we're on things we're curious about, when are you going to get off your
*aretta* and ask my cousin Celana out? Haven't you mourned long
enough?"
If Markus had been drinking something he would have spit it out. The look on his
ace was unmistakable...
"Aahhhhh where did that come from?" he asked still in a little bit of shock.

"Well, I do admit that she is a very beautiful woman, and would love to have a
relationship other than a strictly professional one. However, I am not quite the kind
of creature that she woudl be interested in. One who lies to fellow officers, strong
arms long time friends, and betrays personal honor and perhaps even personal principle
in a fools cause." he said looking very hard within himself. Lying to this Venasian
would be pointless for him. After his intimate mental contact with her during his
coma on the Stargazer.... She would have known of the deception.
