After Garibaldi left, Selara said to JAck, "Secure the cargo. If it looks
like things are getting dicey here, leave." He nodded, and Selara also
left.
She made her way to where the thick of the commotion was, the USS
ThunderChief. Over near the landing, she saw Garibaldi talking with some
gruff-looking stress case. With all the chaos, nobody seemed to notice the
non-uniformed renegade.
She overheard someone say, "Dr. D'amondra needs those packets of CT-Y now on
the lower level" as they passed by. Selara, sensing that this was the
chance to check out this big secret the Federation was working on, climbed
down.
As she climbed down, she could sense the noxious gasses getting thicker in
the air. However, instead of getting a radiation suit, she simply erected a
bubble of air around her. More often than not, being a telekinetic had its
advantages.
"What are you doing here?" Serana shouted at her when she saw her cousin.
"Get out!" She turned back to the crewman she was treating, an unconscious
young woman with a badly mangled leg.
Selara rolled her eyes and looked around. What a mess. She supposed she
could help, but more, she was interested in seeing what exactly the
Federation was working on down here. She stepped over a burn victim and
went around the corner, away from where the worst carnage was.
While in the belly of the ThunderChief rescuing the construction crews
Serana got a jolt. In fact the entire ship shuttered slightly.
"Every one out!!!" yelled one of the engineers. He moved over to where
Serana was standing directing her newly found medics.
Serana heard one of the engineers and pointed to her emergency team. She
ordered them to get out, without any room for argument. They did, taking as
many stabilized victims as they could with them.
Just as the last of her team was out, she heard a dull booming in the
background, and suddenly felt a massive pressure front, paired with searing
hot temperatures. She and several other already-injured crew were blasted
into the bulkhead by the explosion, heat and shrapnel tearing into them.
Serana's radiation suit offered little protection, as pieces of transparent
aluminum, metal, and chemicals tore into her body. As she fell to the deck,
her last image through pain-filled haze was the foggy, destroyed engineering
section.
