The meeting was interrupted by word of a Venasian announcement.

"Please patch it in.", Lasiter said to the aide.

is no need for alarm; this is simply for your protection. As you are
aware, there is usually an unsettled period following a change of
government, and our military units have been called upon to dissuade any
criminals who may try to take advantage of the situation.

"I am deeply honored to be leading our people at this time. We will, of
course, continue to keep you all well-informed of our progress. Make no
mistake, my fellow Venasians, we will prevail, and a homeworld will soon be
ours."

General A'amon bowed, and left the podium.

That definately put a chill on the room.

Lasiter was the first to break the silence. "Well, this adds a bit more drama
to the situation. It probably willnot be long before a shooting war starts.
The good General is not exactly a fan of Starfleet or the Federation. Prepare
your departments for a possible conflict, armed conflict. It looks like the
Venasians ust jumped to our top priority.

Now there is another matter to fill all of you in on. Vice Admiral Kitanya,
our very own Commander of Special Operations, is on assignment. Which
explains her absence here. She is working with a joint task force of
Federation law enforcement, Starfleet, and Klingon Imperial Navy on a new
threat from a felinid race. You will recognize it from SF Command
Intelligence briefings. They have some prisioners, and are preparing for an
intelligence gathering mission. What this boils down to is that we have two
threats. The Felinids and the Venasians. All of you are to make top level
preparations for war. Keep this to need to know only. I want draft plans day
after tomorrow, and formal plans in one week. Work fast, as we may not have
that much time. Anything else?"

"Very well. Dismissed. Admirals Renaud and Feylan please remain." Lasiter
said.
