"I honestly don't see him shut down, delayed, but not stopped. He will
probably be surprised at any serious resistance to his plan, and that will
buy us time. The bigger the suprise the more time we will have, as it will
take him longer to plan a way around it. That said, we, or should I say
Admiral Lasiter, should prepare for a fight. He will have to have something
big to shut him down. There can only be one result, either Admiral
Lasiter wins and leads or Kettering wins and takes over." she answered.
Her Chief of Staff adds, just finishing a bite of his own, "A fight or
flight situation. But something worse could happen. There could be a
stalemate, each weakened, but not out. That very well could divide the fleet into
two very nasty pieces."
"At a time when we cannot afforrrd it," said Kitanya.
Captain Alexander again adds a thought, "In theory it is simple. All
Admiral Lasiter needs to do is show measurable progress, a clear plan for
reform, and prove to all that he is a strong leader. Simple in theory"
"But not so simple in prrractice. Lasiterrr holds his carrrds to his
chest verrry closely, and his strrrategy depends on it. Like I said, though,
I'll see what I can do. Perrrhaps I can convince him to drrrop a bone to
the media. The Venasian storrry is getting stale, and they'rrre looking
forrr something new to chew on." Like most upper-level military, she hated the
press, but they had their uses. Like everything else, you had to have a
strategy to deal with them. "The hint of a significant change by CinC
Starrrfleet, especially in this 'time of crrrisis' as they love to sell it, will
be newsworrrthy."
"A good plan. It would get the people on the side of the CinC, and improve the image
of Starfleet. That is if it does not burn us." replied the Captain.
Admiral Jora added, "Do you think that you can get him to do that?"
