Dais, not wanting to make a scene like the one that Sam had made earlier, relented.? "If you feel it best to escort us to the market, then feel free to do so."? While he was not happy about having shadows, there was little that could be done about it.
Sam was doubly annoyed.? He did not appreciate the offer, and trusted them even less.?
There was definately something not right with the situation.? However, he would not
test Dais further.
Audra had listened to the exchange quietly. Things were not going well. They were
getting by on the skin of their teeth. She did not think their story was being
bought, but she was hopeful that it would work out.
When they reached the gate of the docking facility, R'saran turned her chiseled gaze
on them - mostly Lasiter.? "In the future, I would suggest taking some precaution
against 'wandering' in this area.? It would be
unfortunate if you, as... 'civilians,' were mistaken for someone more threatening."?
Her voice wasn't cold, but rather very neutral and emotionless, as if she had no
particular investment in this and she were simply repeating a preprogrammed answer.?
Her eyes, however, were far colder.
"Good day."
The three walking away from the Venasians and into the market. They needed to get
away from the patrol, and the ice woman. They also needed to get some food, and the
market was the perfect place for that task. While they looked around, and sampled the
tasty wares of the local vendors, the trio talked to the natives. Afterall, they were
in the market, so they might as well do some local information gathering. Walking
around separately they covered quite a bit of ground.
They met back at one particular food vendor, to report their experiences. As it
turned out they were all the same. The people were very suspicious of the Venasians
that were now inhabiting parts of their world. Locals did not have a specific problem
with them, but rather were suspicious at their secretive nature. Some locals reported
a bit of "hurried" or "confused" activity from the main Venasian governmental complex
a few days ago. (The Venasian Governmental complex was a campus of several buildings
that was kept separate from the rest of the island. Strict security kept people out.)
Which coincided with the announcement of the change in government (and also the
attack on the ruling council, but that is not known at this time). Other compalints
include increased activity from the Venasian military in the town, and else where.
After their moment of 'sharing', Dais wanted thoughts and opinions.
"Thoughts?"
Joe answered, "There is definately something going on, but there is no 'real' proof of
anything specific. The ice queen back there was not happy with us either. I still
think that you should go back to the Secretary with Admiral t'Llhweiir. You may get
different results."
