It did not take much time at all for Admiral Lasiter to get to the situation room.
President Montogmery and his cabinet were already there, and Vice Admiral Feylan (the
acting Commander of Starfleet while Lasiter was on funeral leave) was starting to
brief the assembled group. Lasiter entered in the middle of the briefing.
*** The Breifing ***
"Mr. Presdient, the funeral services for Commander Samuel Lasiter, Jr. began at 1000
hours, and security was tight due to the number of Admirals and officials present, but
especially so due to a suspected plot to assassinate a member of Starfleet Command.
Security discovered the plot only yesterday, and doubled security while they tracked
down those involved. At 1040 hours just as the mourners gathered at the grave site,
snipers opened fire on the group. Killing at least 3, and wounding many others.
Exact numbers are still unknown, but we should have them shortly. Security, under the
command of Major Paulson, SF Marines, returned fire. Station security chief Commander
K'Tael and Major Paulson were able to subdue the snipers, and secure tha area. There
were three snipers, and two are in custody. The third died in the fire fight. The
only Admiral that was hit was Rear Admiral Gariabldi, whose condition is unknown.

At 1103 hours, just as the area around the funeral was being secured and wounded
transported for treatment, there was an unexplained explosion on Spacedock.
Information from Spacedock is limited at this time. {OOC: SF Command time 1127 hours,
Station time is roughly 1108 hours. Just enough to make a big difference. -CS}
Admiral Renaud has had to cut power usage to prevent an overload of the fusion
reactors. Orders were given to sortie those ships in port, but we are tracking down
who issued those orders. Unfortunately, the ships have not been able to sortie."
"Excuse me for being late, Mr. President.", Lasiter said making his presence known
from the back of the room. "Admiral t'Llhweiir gave the orders for the ships in port
to depart. I mentioned to her that the ships were in danger, and she followed
standard operating procedure and ordered them out."
Feylan looked relieved to see Lasiter standing there. Others in the room were a mix
of happy and annoyed at his being late.
