"Commander, I want you to include recommendations on newer specs for the components you just described in the final report," Lasiter said impressed impressed at the level of detail in the report. There hadn't been a lot of time since the explosion and this meeting, and this level of analysis was surprising. The bar just got set higher, not just for Shevab, but for the rest of the meeting.

Lasiter took a look around those present to see if they wanted to interject or add to this topic.

Shevab had just turned Lorin in his favor with his presentation and analysis.

"Now that we know what happened, how do we prevent it from happening again?", Lasiter said looking straight at Lorin Renaud.

Lorin stood, "To be honest we need to be careful here. Spacedock is the crown jewel of Starfleet in terms of bases and welcoming those of all races. History has taught us here that more attempts at being secure done wrong can scare the populace such as major terrorist events from old Earth circa 2001. We need to tighten security while still maintaining an open and welcome feel. After consulting with Commanders K'Tael and Dais..." he acknowledged them both with a glance, "I present the following options-Admiral Smallwood (correct name I think-I'm at my folks house) please add your thoughts here...

(OOC: Pete, I am sure that K'Tael would appreciate the promotion to Admiral, but I fixed his rank back to the Commander he really is ... }}}=)!)

1) Double Custom Inspectors per shift-limiting the ability to bring illicit material or unwanted personnel on this base can only help;
2) Make further areas and/or around the base off-limits to non-officers or non-staff. This could include 2-3 sections around engineering both above and below Engineering;
3) Increase Security staff and utilize them more by mingling plainclothes officers into the general walkways and areas;
4) We also recommend a arrangement of joint patrols for the Ambassadorial areas...our top-ranked Security staff could share patrol with various Ambassadorial staffs; and
5) Increased shared knowledge between the various Civilian and Military law enforcement areas about known militant groups that are present and start tracking them.

He looked at his staff to join in...

"These types of actions should have the desired effect, without reducing the various economic, tourist, and military roles of the station," continued K'Tael. "I believe this type of balance is what we are really looking for in order to prevent another attack." K'Tael turned to Shevab to continue the discussion in order to resolve some of the engineering issues that had been brought up.

Commander's Shevab's waldoes extended and placed several padd's on the conference table. {First, a proposal of new levels of specifacations for the the required pieces, along with a system of testing said pieces before acceptance. Second, a report stating in my belief, had the station been running at a greater efficiency level than previous, the chances of detecting said power drains and anomolies, which the station's computer was forces to give a lower priority to due to more curent needs. Plans to raise the station's operating efficiency were already in progress prior to the incident.}

Lt Knucklebiter leaned over to Lorin and whispered, "Not bad for a guy with 75 kilo silicon brain," smiling comically.
