t'Llhweiir spoke with utter calm. Lasiter did not need anything to further
spark his temper, and she saw it as her responsibility to see to
that. "Unfortunately, Sir, one of the tenants of the Federation is that its
citizens have the right to free speech and meeting. As long as they
demonstrated peacefully, there was little we could do legally to monitor them.
"The exposure of the Brotherhood's involvement in racist acts on Spacedock are
one of the reasons that a deeper look has become more important. A number of
operatives have started infiltrating the groups, but they are all in the
lower ranks due mostly to their newness in the organizations. Numbers are
currently as follows:
Brotherhood of Humanity: 10
Knights of Right: 3
Coalition of the Faithful 6
Earth Militia 2
"The groups are much more influential on Earth and it human colonies such as
the Moon, Mars, and Alpha Centauri, though they do have operatives on many of
the non-human Federation worlds.
"The groups are organized along the lines of pyramid-ranked cells, with cell
leaders the only one reporting to members of the next level up. Membership in
the group is extremely secretive, thought they tend to wear symbols of their
membership so others in their organization can know and assist those also in
their group. Members are idealy known by a nickname that ties in with their
racist beliefs."
She glanced around the room, then met Lasiter's eyes directly. "Sir, we are
behind at present, but I do believe that we can take measures to improve this
situation. I recommend that Intell and Security work closely together, along
with Special Operations, to develop and implement a plan of action. Commander
K'Tael has already made progress with the Brotherhood, so his involvement would
be especially helpful.
"Also, I plan to have our Intell operatives select more highly placed members
of these organizations to see if their cooperation can be secured."
