Coming across news channels and intell reports, it appears that word of the presence of lapizine on the potential planet being offerred by the Council has spread throughout the Venasian populace around the quadrant. Angry rumblings are starting to be heard that the Council races are trying to commit mass genocide while appearing innocent in the matter. Since Venasians are historically a pacificist race, no real bloodshed has erupted, but they are starting to express their protest in other ways. Stores and services are being boycotted, colonies are starting to shut their doors to Council-races, and in general, Venasians are pulling themselves away from associating with other races. One well-known opinion journalist has already penned a sarcastic article entitled "Avoiding War Through Natural Causes: Keeping Peace in the Alpha Quadrant." This is undoubtedly only the beginning of a major influx of articles and commentaries, and while no bloodshed has occurred, it seems only a matter of time before accusations start flying and things start tending towards violence, whether in a distant trading outpost, or right in the hearts of the Council empires.
