>>>Upon beam down Steven quickly oriented himself. He was not at the main
>>>building, but one of the other buildings that made up the campus that was
>>>called Starfleet Command.
>>>
>>>The Transporter Officer said as they materialized, "Special Operations is
>>>on levels 8 and 9. Marine expeditionary unit 23 is on level 2."
>>
>>Steven nodded.
>>
>>"Thanks." He said to the transporter officer. "I'm Commander Liridian.
>>Would you happen to know on which level I've been required to go?"
>>
>>"Yes, sir. Level 9. That would be the command offices for special
>>operations. Captain Aurellius is expecting you. He called down here a
>>few minutes ago."
>
>"Thank you. I apprieciate the information."
>
>With those words said, he left the Transporter Room and made his way over
>to the level he had been directed to.
>
>>When he made it up there, he found the office was busseling with
>>activity. There was definately something going on, but he knew that
>>already. He did get a look at the hole in the side of Spacedock as the
>>Protector docked. The receptionist directed Liridian back to the where
>>the main offices were. He passed by the office of Vice Admiral Kitanya,
>>the CO of Spec Ops on the way to the office of Captain Aurellius, Chief of
>>Staff- Special Operations.
>>
>>His aide was not at her desk, and his doors were open. He could go right
>>in.
>
>Cautiously, Steven first poked his head inside to see if anyone was
>actually inside Captain Aurellius' office.
>
>"Come in." said the man behind the desk, who had his back to the door. He
>saw Steven in the reflection in the picture frame he was staring at. He
>swiveled in his chair to face the door and the new comer.
>
> "You must Commander Steven Liridian. I am Captain Markus Aurellius,
>the Chief of Staff at Special Operations. Please come in and have a
>seat.", he said politely.
Steven's first thought when Captain Aurellius acknowledged his arrival was
'oops! Busted!', but he shook his head and reminded himself that he had
been ordered to this meeting, and it had sounded both urgent and important
that he attend.
He walked into the office properly and sat down at the chair that had
been offered.
Captain Aurellius, it seemed, got right to the point.
>"I appologize for the abrupt call this morning, but things are not...
>normal around here. Let's start off with what do you know about the
>events at Spacedock and Earth over the last 36 hours?"
"Only sketchy details. I know there was some sort of bombing or attack,
and several senior officers died, but not all that much beyond that. As
you may know, I only recently returned from a mission."
"I was wondering just how much info had made it to you in the field. Well there was
an explosion on the station, and it was a bomb. There were several wounded, quite a
few seriously. However, prior to that there was a sniper attack at a funeral on
Earth. The funeral was for the son of Admiral Lasiter. That's where the flag
officers were killed. Both incidents appear to be the work of extreamists within the
Federation. As a result things are very hectic. ", he let the information sink in a
bit before continuing.
"We also have a situation near the Klingon border with a new species. A felinid race.
They have been doing mainly commerce raids, but have grown to hitting Starfleet and
Klingon military supply convoys and patrols. Special Operations Command had been
given the task of overseeing the efforts to stop the attacks. The mission is
commandly jointly by a Starfleet officer by the name of Rear Admiral John Black and a
Klingon Captain named Koloth. We have learned that these felinids are genetically
identical to Caitians, but not so civilized. It is believed that they are the advance
force to a full scale invasion. Adm. Black and Capt. Koloth have brought some
prisioners here for interrogation. "
