>Captain Aurellius, it seemed, got right to the point.
>
>>"I appologize for the abrupt call this morning, but things are not...
>>normal around here. Let's start off with what do you know about the
>>events at Spacedock and Earth over the last 36 hours?"
>
>"Only sketchy details. I know there was some sort of bombing or attack,
>and several senior officers died, but not all that much beyond that. As
>you may know, I only recently returned from a mission."
>
>"I was wondering just how much info had made it to you in the field. Well
>there was an explosion on the station, and it was a bomb. There were
>several wounded, quite a few seriously. However, prior to that there was
>a sniper attack at a funeral on Earth. The funeral was for the son of
>Admiral Lasiter. That's where the flag officers were killed. Both
>incidents appear to be the work of extreamists within the Federation. As
>a result things are very hectic. ", he let the information sink in a bit
>before continuing.
>
>"We also have a situation near the Klingon border with a new species. A
>felinid race. They have been doing mainly commerce raids, but have grown
>to hitting Starfleet and Klingon military supply convoys and patrols.
>Special Operations Command had been given the task of overseeing the
>efforts to stop the attacks. The mission is commandly jointly by a
>Starfleet officer by the name of Rear Admiral John Black and a Klingon
>Captain named Koloth. We have learned that these felinids are genetically
>identical to Caitians, but not so civilized. It is believed that they are
>the advance force to a full scale invasion. Adm. Black and Capt. Koloth
>have brought some prisioners here for interrogation. "

To say he was stunned was putting it somewhat mildly.

"I had no idea the situation was that bad. All I knew for certain was that
Admiral Lassiter's son had died, not that there was a sniper attack at his
funeral. What are the extremists after, exactly? And do you know where the
felinids come from, or why they are attacking?"

"The extremists are after a change in Federation policy. They think that the
Federation is soft on non-Federation members, and they wanted to target Admiral
Lasiter as their example. Generally, they are human and anti non-human, but they seem
to tolerate Federation members that are in favor for a strong Federation. Basically
you can classify the Brotherhood and their kind as xenophobic bastards.

The felinids are a different story. From what we have learned they come from a
different galaxy. They are highly advanced, technologically speaking. Socially they
aren't as advanced as their technology, suggesting that their technology was not all
developed, but rather obtained from others. Strangely, they have made use of pawns to
do much of their work. Criminal organizations and the like, to mask their activity.
Analysis of their methods and interrogations have revealed that they are a
militaristic society. They are strying to estabilish a foot hold in this galaxy in
preparation of a full scale invasion."
