It was time to get the conersation started. "I am Commander Daphne Ares. I would like to speak with you for a few moments."
"It is not as if I can walk away from you.", came the gruff answer through the Universal Translator.
"That may be true," responded Daphne with a nod, but that does not mean that you will respond. I was hoping to talk with you rather than at you."
"That will depend on what you have to say. Whatever it is it had better be worth my time, because I don't usually degrade myself by conversing with prey species.", was the curt reply through the UT.
Daphne was a it caught off guard by the response. She knew that the felinids were brutal, but she had not expected to ever be considered lunch. At the same time, she knew that she was going to have to respect that if she was going to be talking with him for long.
"Perhaps we could start by you telling me how I could address you."

"Thank you, Traknor," replied the human. "Is that your name or your rank?"
"It is my name."
"Thank you for sharing that," she replied. She looked around and found a chair nearby that she pulled over in front of the energy barrier. "May I ask how you came to be here?"
