Lasiter nodded a bit signaling that he understood what she said.
"So, Captain, do you feel like working on another investigation? The incident with
the sniper attack and the bombing on Spacedock needs to be investigated. There are
several departments involved, as you know, intell, fleet security, and station
security. I think that there needs to be someone to serve as a liason for the many
departments. That will take you off station as far as Mars, but I doubt further. If
the need arises for you to go any further, the three of us will meet again and discuss
it. Do you feel up to this assignment?", Lasiter offered.
In the pause, but before either could respond, Lasiter added, "Don't feel rushed,
Captain. If you don't feel up to it take more time off. However, getting back in the
saddle may be helpful to your recovery. You will be required, of course, to keep
standing appointments with Commander Kirk. If either of you feel that this assignment
becomes too much, we will back you off...."
