"And how long would he have to stay on Mars?  How long would it be before
his case comes up?  What sort of breaks is he going to get for talking to
you?  I think we need those questions answered as well, Commander"

"Ms. Moiraine, your client would have to stay on Mars until his case comes
up and that time frame will depend completely on scheduling, which is handle
through the Judge Advoacate's Office.  It is completely out of my hands.  As
for the breaks. your client is going to have to go to prison, there is no
doubt about that.  His time will be shortened."

"Before my client agrees, he is going to want to know by how much,
Commander."

"Since that depends largely on how much he cooperates, I can't give him a
definitive answer, Ms.  Moiraine.  You know better than that."  The Klingon
glared at her has he spoke; his black eyes appearing almost as flaming
embers as he spoke.  "You are wasting time for both of us.  You know how the
plea bargain system works.  He is going to plead guilty to all charges and
provide as much information about the Brotherhood as he can.  In exchange,
he will be protected.  I would think that your client would be in no rush to
get out of prison since he will be on his own when he gets out.  If the
Brotherhood is still active at that time, he may not survive."

At first, the lawyer only nodded in response and silence filled the room.
She was frustrated.  The more she worked this case, the more she realized
that it was one that she could not win.  That bruised her ego.  She should
have known that, considering the specifics of the case, but she was never
one to easily admit defeat.

"It would seem that we have set out the specifics.  I will pass them along
to my client.  Do you have a time set for when you would like to transport
him if he agrees to this?"

"I think we both agree that the faster we can get this all set up, the safer
your client will be, Ms. Moiraine."

Ione nodded.  "That is correct.  What do you propose that we do next, Commander?"

"Why don't you go meet with your client and get back to me with his final
response.  If he approves, we can have him off the station and on his way to
Mars within the hour."

"It seems that you are getting everything that you want, Mr. K'Tael" she repliled as she collected her briefcase.  "Let's just make sure that my client doesn't end up out in the cold."  With that the woman turned to to the entrance to the office.

KTael watched the lawyer leave. Things had gone well, if frustrating, but
that was to be expected.  He was quickly learning that that was the way of
things when dealing with Ione Moiraine.  He turned to his console and opened
a comm line to the office of the Chief of Starfleet Intellience in San
Francisco.  It was time to brief Admiral t'lwheiir on all that had been
going on.
