Inside chambers... "Admiral Jackson, sir. I am sorry to disrupt you, but I have a call from Starfleet Command. It is LCMR Charles Reid, staff aide for Admiral Samuel Lasiter."
Jared looked up from the brief he had been working on for some time. The interruption was welcome. "It is OK, Sandra. Put Mr. Reid through to my console."
He did as requested.

"Yes, sir" was the quick reply from his secretary.
A moment later the face of Lasiter's new staff aide appeared. "What can I do for you, Mr. Reid?"
"Good day, sir. I am calling at the request of Admiral Lasiter. There is an investigation that he would like you to take over. One that has far reaching implications, that it must be done with care and diligence. Naturally he thought of you, sir. Would you be interested?"
