<excerpt>[You lie! The Korrat have always been fathers and mothers to
us. They would not use our blood for amusment. You lie!!], he was
starting to sound just a bit desparate.
Daphne found the choice of words interesting. She wandered if these
"fathers and mothers" were more than just masters. Was some genetic
tinkling involved in working with the felinids?
She grabbed the felinids chair and turned him to face her. She wanted to
look him in the eyes. "How dare you imply that we are lying! Who are
these Korrat to send you into battle and not stick around? Where are
they when you are fighting and dying for them?"
</excerpt>
"Yes, Horrtha," said Tr'Lawsh, holding up a hand toward Daphne in an
'ease down' motion, but putting on a good act of being concerned that
Daphne was out of control. "They brrred you to fight, and to die." She
leaned forward across the table. "You arrre nothing but puppetsss,
Horrtha. What betterrr way to fight yourrr battlesss than to brrreed a
bassstarrrd ssspeciess that would actually think it wasss an honorrr to
be a ssslave?" The Caitian seemed to know exactly what 'fathers and
mothers' meant, and she was having a tough time holding back her own
anger about that issue. The Caitian's tail slashed furiously behind her,
though she held her acting face.
[What is your proof of this?], he said angrily. He was angry, but his confidence was
most definately shaken. His grasp on his world was slipping, unraveling. That was
indeed a scary thing.
