Melora stood up to speak. "As you all know, I wleft our last meeting with the intention of contacting Central Command about arranging a meeting with Golan Dulath to allay your concerns about his welfare. I did in fact do so. Central Command was able to contact former-Ambassador Dulath at his new posting as head of political science at one of our most prestegious universities. Unfortunately, Mr. Dulath is so busy with his classes and new workload that he is unable to make such a trip at this time. He sends his apologies." Melora took a seat.
She was a poor liar....Watson could see that and he was no rocket scientist by any stretch. Pretty sad, a Cardassian who couldn't lie well.
Ael arched an eyebrow, but held her silence. It was a lie. A bold-faced, flagrant lie, and not even a good one at that. The Cardassians had to know that the Rihannsu intelligence network within their system was at least good enough to see through this hastily concocted and very poor quality sham. The Cardassians were making their contempt for the Rihannsu - and for all the other peoples present at this meeting - very clear. Were they, in fact, hoping to instigate war? If so, the Twin Homeworlds would be more than eager to accomodate them. And smite the smug creatures in the process. "Too busy with classes to allay the concerns of a group of which he was most recently a respected member," she said aloud, the dancing eyebrow the only _expression_ on her otherwise implacable face. Her voice held the most neutral inflection possible. It didn't sound as if she were convinced, but neither did it accuse. At least, not yet. Bedru had found a seat, but she did not plan to say much at this meeting. Her purpose was to observe and begin to formulate her own opinions about the members of the Council. So far, it was proving to be very interesting. Watson wasn't letting this drop, "Out of respect to the former Ambassador's...busy schedule...." he let it hang, "I recommend to the Council that we arrange a special meeting at a time when he can speak to us via videocomm. This issue is important in respect to his service to the Council." He kept his facial _expression_ solidly neutral.
Valtris could feel the anger bubbling inside. She knew that Melora was not telling the truth she could not be. "Forget videocomm," she replied letting the anger show. It was not directed at Watson, but at the Cardassian. Her black eyes bore into the Cardassian as she spoke. "Golan Dulath was a founding member of this group. In fact, it was his idea to approach the other members to create it. I find it hard to believe that he would not make time assist us if thought we were in need of hearing from him. Why has he not sent as a message? Why did he not talk to us directly via videocomm now?
The sounds of Plantoc Ra'aj gavel echoed through the silence that followed the Klingon's questions. "Order folks. Let's all remember that we are diplomats here. We are supposed to be here to discuss problems and find resolutions without starting wars." The Aqualish eyed a warning to the Klingon. It was not that she did not feel the same emotions, but they could not let them control this meeting.
Dolari rose, her lovely gold-flecked eyes at odds with the ominious Borg implants on her face. "Honored Council representatives, gentle tides. I am Dolari Far Haryail, T'remea and representative of the Venasian people. Please forgive the hasty introduction, but it seems there are more pressing issues at stake." She turned to Ambassador Damesh. "It is unfortunate that Professor Dulath's duties prevent him from addressing our concerns in
person. Perhaps if he is unable to attend the Council, he would not object to a visit by one of our own representatives at his university? I am sure any concerns may be addressed there without much disruption to his schedule." "Excuse me," said a quiet voice. It was Ambassador Rilg. "I don't think that we are going to be hearing from Mr. Dulath anytime soon, whether it is from a representative of this group or videocomm or anything else. I have some evidence that proves that Golan Dulath is being held by the Cardassians."
Melora stared at the Ferengi. It was clearly evident that it was taking everything in her power to not leap across the table and rend Rilg limb from limb.

"If you will all look at the holoconsole in the middle of the table, you will see some report that were pulled together by a number of Ferengi citizens who sell wares on Cardassia Prime. They have clearly found evidence that Mr. Dulath is being held as a political prisoner. He is being torture for his positions. It is clear that he is no head of any department at any college."
