She raised her hand, claws extended to slice his face open, then lowered
her hand, shaking her head.  "I feel sssorrry forrr you," she said, her
mane swaying.  "You usssed to be like usss.  Dignity, culturrre, honorrr.
Now, you arrre nothing.  A viciousss canine to be kept on a chain and
frrrighten away strrrangerrs.  I'm sssorrry forrr you and yourrr
childrrren."  She hoped Daphne would pick up on his reaction.  Beings with
children had subtle reactions to the mention of children that childless
beings did not.

They got what they were looking for.  The tell tale shift of a nerve being struck.  This one had cubs.

He dripped the chair tight in an effort to keep composure.  If his chair had been a hand, every bone in it would have been splintered.

"What do you know of children let alone mine, house pet?", the calmness of his voice was betrayed by the rest of his body language.  The tension in the room could be cut with a knife.  The prisioner was on edge.

"Your children are in no danger from us.  Unfortunately, that does not mean that they are not in any danger at all."  Daphne let the statement hang in the air.
 
"How little you rrrealize...", the distain was evident in his voice.
 
"And what do you mean by that?" Daphne asked.  She knew that there was more to what he was saying.  "What could you possibly know that we would have to worry about?"
