Valtris made her way over to the replicator and ordered a glass of ice water for herself. She needed to cool down. She wanted to rip the Cardassian p'tah apart. If only the Empire had crushed the spoonheads when it had the chance.

The Klingon was standing in the corner of the room as the rest of the diplomats slowly dispersed. Some left without speaking and others left in small groups. Not surprisingly, Melora Damesh had fallen into the first category. It was time to have a little chat with the newest representative from Cardassia Prime. She finished off the water and replaced the glass in the replicator so it could be reclimated.

Valtris followed the woman into the hall, which was already empty. "Excuse me, Ambassador. Could I have a moment of your time?" she asked. The tone was sincere but clearly held the biting edge of her unhappiness.

The Cardassian had been walking down the corridor with little attention to those around her. Her mind was deep in thought. Things had not gone well in the meeting. In fact, they had gone quite badly. She was surprised to see the Federation so willing to get involved in the foreign affairs of others. Their beloved Prime Directive usually excluded them from getting involved.

It was in this condition that she turned to face the woman who had spoken to her so she was surprised to find that it was the Klingon Valtris, who was not one of her favorite people. She decided that, for now, being pleasant might be the easist thing to do. "How may I help you, roj'utlh Valtris?" she asked.

"I wanted to talk to you about what happened in there," replied the Klingon. "I don't understand why you would have thought that the Council was going to let what you were reporting to us go without concern. Part of our duty is to protect the inalienable personal rites of all the citizens of Council member worlds."

Valtris was not the only Council representative with an interest in speaking with Damesh. Grand Proxy Rilg had also decided he wanted a word with her. He was not sure why he was so interested in this matter, but he clearly was concerned with this woman and the actions that her government had taken with its former representative.

As the Klingon spoke, Melora noticed that the two of them were not alone. The Ferengi was standing not too far away watching them. She was going to have a word with that swine when she was finished with Valtris. He had been a big cause for her recent difficulties.

Valtirs noticed the icy blue eyes of the Cardassian was honing in on something besides her speaking partner and turned toward what she was looking at to see the Ferengi representative. She turned back to the Cardassian, though, to await a response to her comment.
