That was the response of a coward, and it disgusted Valtris. She could not help but let that disgust show on her face. Granted, ambassadors were the representatives of their governments to other powers but there was more to their job than just saying what the Homeworld wanted. Diplomats are supposed to advise Homeworld about what was happening in these other societies in relation to their Homeworld and advise on proper reactions. The leaders made the final decisions, but those decisions could be influenced by the ambassador. "If that is your response, then I pity Central Command its choice of you as its representative to this Council."
"I do not have to answer to you. You are not my superior, and you are definitely not providing me with friendly advice. I understand the concerns of the Council, but it is actually none of its business what happens to the citizens of the Cardassian Union as long as we are following accepted behavior."
"Melora, you worked closely with that man. In fact, you were his diplomatic aide. I know that there was little love lost between the two of you, but you cannot believe that he deserves imprisonment. He was working for your people, for your government."
While the women continued to speak, Rilg also stuck around. He listened in with curiosity to what they had to say. He had to admit that it was the calmest that he had seen them interact. It was clear that they more than disliked each other."
"Former Ambassador Dulath was recalled to Cardassia Prime. As I said, he is serving in a new position at a Univeristy there. You can either believe me or not since you and the rest of the Council are going to do as you please. Now, I think this coversation is over," said the Cardassian, who walked away from the Klingon and made her way over to the Ferengi.
Valtris was shocked to see the Cardassian just walk. She had to admit that she was not completely surprised. She decided that there was nothing more that she could do. She headed off on her own.
"Ambassador Rilg, I would like to speak with you in my office at your earliest convenience." She did not wait for a reply. She only left and headed back to the Cardassian Embassy.

A few minutes later, Valtris had arrived at the Romulan Embassy. She had a hunch and she wanted to follow through on it. She made her way into the reception area. "I was wondering if I might be able to speak with the Rihannsu Ambassador?"
