Carrhae was silent for a moment as she considered her words carefully. When she
spoke them, she used her home language to communicate all the nuances she needed
to express. << So much has happened recently. I have come to know that time is
not guaranteed to us--even to you, my love. I want to use whatever time I have
to its fullest.
<<Would you share that time with me as my mate?>>
She studied his eyes before she continued. << I speak from my heart. Should
yours answer back, I will celebrate joyously. If it does not, then I will
understand and accept whatever you can offer. >>
Carrhae smiled, gave Matt a final kiss, and walked out of the door.
Matt was stunned almost into inaction.
Almost.
He grabbed her elbow and pulled her back to face him, his eyes searching hers. "You would marry me," he asked her, "with all the millenia worth of emotional baggage I bring along...."
(eh?)
He dropped to one knee. <Then, Carrhae, I would gladly accept the honor of becoming your mate. And in the spirit of unkown time left, I beg that we do this quickly. Today if it can be arranged."
