Valtris felt her smile broaden slightly. "That is one of the reasons I am here. I have a feeling that the intelligence that Rilg presented this morning was from a different source than he stated. It had a bit of a Tal Shiar feel to the way it was set up." Valtris let the statement hang in the air to see if Ael would take the bait and reveal her involvement.
Ael's lip curled just a touch at the mention of the Tal Shiar. "My more secretive brethren have not experienced any type of social revolution themselves," she said in a low voice. "I can assure you that the Tal has not been in contact with anyone from Ferengi." She paused just a moment. "There will be no confession, Ambassador," she said simply, with a hint of a soft smile. "I will simply state again that it is not impossible, and in fact quite likely, that Ambassador Rilg received his intelligence from a source that will withstand scrutiny. You understand, of course, that such a revelation as he imparted this morning could not have come, directly, from the Rihannsu. Our enmity with the Cardassians runs too deeply for any credibility to have been given to us had we revealed it, no matter the veracity of the original source."
Valtris nodded her head. She could more than understand the Rihannsu representative's concern. She wassurprised that the Romulan was willing to share the fact that her people provided the information that Rilg had presented to the Council. "I must thank you for your candor, Ambassador. I must also thank you for your help. Ambassador Dulath was a dear friend to me. I must admit that I am greatly concerned that he may be in danger."
