David reached back and strapped himself in as he realized he hadn't done it
when they started out, expecting a quiet trip. He monitored Comm.

The Runabout Nile lurched left and right, up and down as it tried to avoid the shots coming from the shuttle ghosting it.  Unfortunately, it wasn't quite enough.  Slowly and surely, the shields were being worn down until they failed.  Finally, one of the shots struck an unshielded nacelle and the Runabout crashed down to the planet.
