"My apologies for bothering you, Madam Ambassador," responded the Ferengi as he stared nervously at the floor.  "I wanted you to know that I just left a meeting with Melora Damesh.  She knows that the Ferengi are not the source of the information at the meeting this morning."

"She confronted you on this?" she asked, very nonplussed.  "And what did you say to her?"

"I did not confirm that information, but she knows!  I don't think she knows that it was you folks."

Ael shrugged.  "She can know it wasn't you, she can suspect it was the Rihannsu, it is immaterial.  The truth has been given voice, and it will soon be proven, at which point it does not matter at all from whence the information came.  They are a lying race, the Cardassians.  It would be impossible for them to suspect anyone else of telling the truth."

Rilg nodded.  It did not assuage his concerns, but he would accept her confidence.  She was right about one thing: there was nothing that the Cardassians could do now that the information was out.  "I am more concerned about the Ambassador herself."

"I wouldn't worry about Melora's suspicions.  For that matter, I wouldnt' worry about Melora.  With confirmation of what you've said, her credibility will dissolve and, if she has any shred of decency, she will remove herself from the council."

RIlg could only hope that Ael was right.  "That would definitely resolve the problem of her threatening me."
