"I would say that not only are these attacks in our territory, but indications
suggest that Star Fleet personnel are involved," t'Llhweiir replied. "I spoke
with Commander Wilson just a few minutes ago. She said that their trip was not
previously scheduled. Whoever set up the attack had to do so with little notice
and with a full knowledge of the personnel on the shuttle and their flight
plan."
"That makes a long list of potential suspects. Rooting out the turn coat is not going
to be easy, and it will take morale and flush it. People will start to suspect
friends and coworkers. However, we could use that to our advantage. If we can make
the right appeal to Starfleet forces in general, and those in the sol system in
particular, we may get a leed. But the challange will be to make the right appeal, to
send the right message. If we get just one good lead we would have our way in.",
Smallwood said.
Lasiter just listened. While he was angry as he had every been in his life, he was
pleased to see that Security and Intell were showing signs of working together.
Instead of playing the usual turf wars... This calmed him, but only slightly.
"Wilson's report is telling, and points in two directions. The first being flight
operations, who would know about the flight, who was aboard, and their destination.
The second being the support staff for each of those on the runabout. All that fit
into those categories need to be interviewed. Start taking a look at communications
logs as well. Check all of them except for those for the diplomatic channels, as we
don't have domain there. However, the others are all fair game. Look for patterns in
the who is calling who."
