It was not difficult to sense the relief in Joanna's response. He had a feeling that it was not just because fellow officers had survived the accident. There was more to the patient-doctor relationship than Joanna was indicating. It was none of his business, though. "I am glad that the Captain is ok.
Is there any news about Commander K'Tael's condition?"
Joanna shook her head. "I don't know any of the details. My understanding that he is in critical, but stable condition."
Jared was saddened to hear that the station's security officer was in such a fragile condition. He could only hope thtat the situation would change. He did not know the Klingon well, but he understood that K'Tael was an invaluable member of the station's staff.
"I should probably let you return to work. I will contact you to make an appointment for an interview."
"I look forward to it, sir," she replied.
"Thank you for taking the time to meet with me Counselor," he said as he stood up. "Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help." It was clear from the statement that Jared knew that there were strong feelings between David Boulay and Joanna Kirk. It was not a threatening statement, but one that indicated that he truly did want to help.
Joanna felt her eyes widen in surprise for just a second. She had not realized that she had been that obvious about her feelings. "I ... I appreciate that,sir"
Jared departed to return to his office.
Joanna went back to going over her notes for her first appointment.
