"Thank you, sir," Colin said, taking a seat and waiting to hear what the admiral had to say.

"What I am about to tell you is highly classified, and is not to be discussed outisde of this room.  Not even with your senior staff.  Should you accept the assignment, you will be permitted to inform your senior staff only after you depart.  Understand, Captain?"

"Understood, sir," he said.

"Earlier today, a runnabout was attacked inside the solar system.  The Nile was taking a team of investigators to Mars to interview a prisioner that may have some knowlege of the attacks at the funeral of the CinC's son and on Spacedock.  We are moving the prisioner back to Spacedock for safe keeping.  During the transfer we are setting up an ambush for the attackers, whom I believe will strike again.  I would like you and your ship to be part of the ambush.  If you agree the ambush will consist of your ship, and two other runnabouts.  A third runnabout will be transporting the prisioner.  Your mission orders, as strike force commander, will be to keep the prisioner secure and capture any attackers that attempt to kill or recover the prisioner.  This is a risky mission since it is within the confines of earth's solar system, which is heavy with civilian and military traffic to begin with.  The importance of taking any attackers alive is something that you can appreciate."  Smallwood trailed off to allow the Captain to digest the information and to ask questions.

"Of course, sir," he said simply.  "Do we have any information on they type of craft they are likely to use?  And if so, am I permitted to ask my tactical officer to study the craft design for best points of attack to achieve our goals, without revealing any other details about the mission?"
