(ooc: if you've never seen one, check out the palmetto bugs in florida. first
time i saw a thumb-sized one take off when i tried to kill it, i thought i'd
have the "big one." 8-) )

Delbert Roach was flying his flitter to Hawaii as fast as he could without
drawing unwanted attention from Pacific Regional Traffic Control. He still did
not have exact coordinates since the transporter t'Llhweiir and Brennan had used
was not under Star Fleet control. However, he had hope that one of the others
who were on the reporter's "watch list" would use one.

He forced himself to slow down before he entered the range of the islands' local
control center because they would immediately insist on destination information
he did not yet have.

Then, his flitter's comm sounded. When the extremely brief conversation
ended--if one could call the one-sided recitation of coordinates followed by
the immediate silence of a broken connection a conversation--Roach plotted them
and broke into a broad grin of victory.

Lasiter himself was headed to Hawaii. His single-use contact had paid in
spades!

Guessing that he was running out of time now, the reporter changed course and
increased speed. The little flitter shook from the sudden strain on its
engines and structure, and taletales on its control panel warned Roach that
reaching and maintaining such speed was ill-advised.

"Better dead than too late," he muttered to the patron saint of reporters.
