OOC: So, *that's* why Ael recognized her ;)

(ooc: it's something that carrhae has mentioned to matt, too, that night they
spent in her beach house.)

Just how much Carrhae said here and now would depend greatly on her
perceptions of the other Rihanna. "It is my utmost duty to provide that for him," she replied. "How long have you known Matthew?"

Ael's eyebrow arched quickly, but then fell back into its neutral state just as quickly. She had, of course, researched Carrhae before coming to the wedding. Long before coming to the wedding, of course, as soon as she had seen the tabloid news reports linking her brother in law with the former Tal Shiar operative. Coming to the woman's home on Terra had, in fact, caused a flurry of messages to assault her from the upper echelon of command of the Fleet, the Tal Shiar, and even the Praetoreate's Department of State. She had told them all, politely, that she would associate with whomever she pleased, and they should not trouble themselves to be upset by it.

She had been almost surprised, however, to find that Carrhae had once served aboard the *Rhea's Helm*, while Ael commanded it. There was a passing familiarity there, but as a junior officer, it would have signalled ill things had Ael known more than her face.

"Seventeen Terran years," she said. "Nine ch'Rihan years. I met him while he attended to the medical care of my sister, Rhiana, from severe injuries. This was, of course, before he managed to woo her." That brought a twisted, amused grin to her lips. "Something I had previously thought not to be possible of any man." She cut herself off suddenly, and turned her face toward Carrhae as they walked. "Is that a subject I should not have broached?" she asked. Rihannsu women could be quite jealous. Quite violently jealous, in fact.

Carrhae replied. "I feel no jealousy for their relationship. I have no doubt
about his feelings for me. Yet, I respect the love he had for Rhiana and would do nothing to try to dislodge her from the place she still holds in his heart."

She then added, "Indeed, one could say that as Rhiana's sister, you would have
as just a cause as I to question whether honor had been breached."

There was nothing overt in her posture or tone to suggest that she wished to
fight, but she was ready to do so if Ael's honor demanded it. In fact, there
had been a method to her offer for the walk. Here, on her ground, an affair of
honor could be settled without interference.

Even Star Fleet's jurisdiction did not extend here. And Matt and Sam were
closeted in a soundproof room.
