Humor was a concept he was familiar with and  still trying to assimilate, when his saw LtCmdr LaLune Ares ahead of him.

{Good Morning LT Commander Ares} he said.

Celine had been walking down the corridor toward her duty shift when she heard the familiar tones of her departmental chief's "voice."  She stopped  and turned to face him.  "Good morning, Commander.  Did you sleep  well?"

{I did not 'sleep' per se, Lt Commander, but would be more easily expressed as 'napped'. I require 36 hours of 'sleep', but can go indefinitely on 10 hours here and there. I will take my full down time once Mr Knucklebiter returns and you are settled in the department.}
Celine did not know much about Horta physiology, but this was definitely and interesting introduction to their sleeping habits.  She could not imagine scheduling 10-36 hours of sleep.  She had enough time managing eight.

"It seems that your party went a long way to improve departmental  moral.  Good choice of rewards."

{Yes, the calculated effects of time spent in a non productive form, along with the fact that all items are paid for by someone else does wonders every now and again. The final total from the innkeeper was far less than I had figured, but reports were that no one left unhappy.}

They moved further down the corridors, when Shevab inquired {Are your younglings doing well with the change and move here?}
Surprise was an understatement for Celine.  She never imagined that Shevab would take that kind of interest in the people who worked for him.  She was impressed.  "They are doing well.  I think children adapt easier than we adults.  Their curiosity seems to overpower their feelings of loss."  Celine clearly was fitting in on the station, but was missing something, or someone, that was left behind at her previous post.

(Shevab?)
