He stepped back, "I....umm...." he stammered as the reality of what just happened hit him, "I don't know what to say...Joanna." They called each other by their first names--it had just gone beyond professional.

Joanna stepped back a bit more and moved over to the seating area. She studied David and could feel his unease. "David, please come and sit down." She extended a hand to indicate one fo the chairs facing her.

He sat.

She took a deep breath before speaking. "It is not that I do not enjoy your company. In fact, I have become quite fond of spending time with you."

"Obviously I feel the same."

"The problem is that I am your Counselor. It would not be appropriate for us to cross this line, David. Your emotional health is too important to risk."

"I feel fine...order me back to full duty and let's take away that issue."

Joanna studied him for a moment before continuing. "I would like to see you to continue to get help for a while. It has not been too long since your rough experience. I could arrange for you to meet with one of my colleagues."

"Then what happens to us?"

Before she could respond, his comm badge rang. It was his secretary informing him of an appointment with Admiral Smallwood he should leave for very quickly. He acknowledged it and dropped the channel. He stood, "I have to go....I'm sorry."

Joanna wasn't happy about the fact that he had to leave. She felt they needed to sort this out, but she also understood what it meant to work for Starfleet. She nodded her head. "We can talk later."

After they said Goodbye, he cleaned up quickly and went to his appointed location.

(who else is there-what happens?)
