"Okay, are our plans for the day still set?"

"I believe so.  Have you both had time to get your research in order?"

"Yes, but is there anything you can add that's not part of the official information?"

"As you can imagine, there are all sorts of things not in the official information provided by the station's databases.  Remember, they serve as diplomats so all the ruffles are smoothed over."  Sam paused to take another sip of his coffee.  "The Plantoc is pretty much watch she seems to be, though.  She seems to be honest and forthright about what she believes and supports.  She is a bit of an optimist and peacenik.  She honestly believes the Council can work at bringing the various powers together.  At times, it causes her to believe to much in her fellow diplomats."

"Since it's unlikely I will talk directly with the ambassador, is there anything about the Aqualish themselves that might be useful?"  Jaime asked.

"They are cautious and reserved.  They have a lot of similarities to the Bajorans in history, but rather than dealing with the universe with fiery defiance, they take their time in the hopes of making the best decisions."

Chase nodded to say that he had as well. He was looking forward to
meeting with Ambassador Valtris and her staff. She was an interesting
person. In some ways, the Klingons were the race that would be most
human, even when looking at other Federation races.

"Valtris is the typical Klingon.  She is full of passion on all levels whether it being confrontation or romance.  She is definitely more of a realist than Ra'aj, but that does not mean that she does not support the Council.  She puts her people first, but does seem to believe in the peace process."

"That seems to go along with what I have read about her when I did a search for her in some magazine and newspaper databases," said Chase, who seemed proud of the fact that he had thought to check out that resource before coming to their meeting.

"Do you have any questions before we all get to work?"

"Will we be meeting later in the day to brief you on what we have
learned?"

"That is up to you.  I am not organizing your research projects while you are vacation.  I am just here to help some friends while they are on a research vacation.  If it would make you feel better, we could.  I get off work at 0600 hours.  It probably would be good for the two of you to meet at least to coordinate your research."  It was clear that Sam was being careful because they were in a public place, but he was expressing himself fully.

"I think that it would be a good idea to meet.  I think bouncing the information and our feelings about our research will help us with getting a clearer outlook on our findings."  He looked to Jaime to see if she agreed.

"Sounds good to me," she said.
