>T'Kresh became a little more serious.  "You have taken the lead on this situation, James.  I was wondering if >you had any ideas about how this delegation should approach the situation when we arrive."  The use of his >name was a first.  She had always used his title in the past.  She did not want formality to get in the way of >a much needed talk.

>Watson noted the change in formality, "Honestly I'm not sure....I need your help. If he is being poorly treated >we can only go so far."

>Her bright aquamarine eyes focused on him.  They closed slightly in resignation just before she nodded in >agreement.  "You are right.  The situation is ... delicate."  She looked around the room the Council members >had settled into before standing up and moving over to the window to look out at the stars as they streaked >by.  She folded her hands together and turned back to James.  "How are we going to protect him without >creating a war?  That is really what we have to do.  The only way I see us being able to do that is through a >united front and a demand that he be turned over to us.  I don't think that Cardassia is ready to challenge >such a proposal."

>"And if they are...Ambassador Damesh will have to tow their line...I'm sure the other Ambassadors will back >us though."

>"I don't doubt that.  I am not sure that woman would even want to stand up for Golan.  The real question is >going to be how much listening the Cardassians are going to do."

"Exactly...we won't know for sure until we get there."

Just then the familiar whistle of a Starfleet intercom opening sounded.  It was probably unfamiliar to most of the Council delegates, but it did get there attention all the same.  "This is Captain Annan to the Council delegation.  We have just entered the Cardassian system.  We should be in orbit around Cardassia Prime in about 40 minutes.  Would you like to come up to the Bridge as we contact Central Command."

T'Kresh moved over to the comm unit next to the door and pressed the area indicated to log onto the communication system.  "Captain Annan, this is Plantoc Ra'aj.  We shall be on the Bridge in a few moments.  Please accept our sincere thanks in regards to your invitation."

"Understood, Madam Chair.  We look forward to your presence.  Annan out."

T'Kresh turned back to the rest of her team.  "It would seem that it is time," she said as she ran her light blue hands over her dress to straighten out any wrinkles that might have formed in transit.

Thanks to the honor guard waiting outside the conference room they had been using, it did not take long for the ambassadorial group to arrive on the Bridge.  They found a wiry African male sitting in the Captain's seat.  His sparkling eyes and smile wrinkles around his mouth indicated a warm and friendly nature.  He stood as he heard the doors shush open an close as the Council members shifted onto the Bridge.

"Ambassadors on the Bridge!" he announced sharply and the officers on the Bridge stood and saluted before returning to their consoles.  He made his way over to the group and extended a hand, which was accompanied by a smile that just seemed to belong, to the Plantoc.  "My apologies for not being able to greet you when you first arrived aboard.  We have been trying to make all due speed to get you and your team to Cardassia Prime quickly."
"We understand, Captain.  We appreciate your taking time out of what must be a busy schedule to shuttle a group of diplomats on this mission."

"It has been my pleasure," he replied.  He glanced over to the rest of the group.  "I would like to welcome all of you to the Bridge."  Annan extended a hand indicating that they were free to move to the center of the Bridge.  "We are ready to open a line to Central Command if you are."

(anything before we start?)
