"If you wish. Our report screened for toxins known to the Venasian
physiology. The report found low levels of lapizine in several of the
planetary bodies of water. While not immediately fatal to Venasians,
extended exposure would result in increased numbers of birth defects,
muscular and systemic degeneration, and eventually death. We would have
seen an epidemic within a Cycle. Why this was missed in the FEderation
survey, I am not sure, but we are relieved to have caught it before any
further negotiation took place."

"I must admit, General, that I have only seen the preliminary report. However,
I must admit that I am shocked at the omission of lapizine in what has been
submitted thus far, but I seriously doubt that it was intentional. Rest
assured, General, that Starfleet is continuing our efforts to locate a suitable
new home for the Venasian people.

I've heard that the Diplomatic Council has sent a survey party of their own to
Dultar. Unless I'm mistaken, a Klingon survey craft was dispatched, and is
playing host to specialists from several members of the Council."
