"Of course, hun," she replied. "Give me a couple of minutes, and I
will be
right back with the food. It will be even less for the drinks. I
just
have to drop by the kitchen to to drop of your order before I grab
them."
She left with a smile on her face.
"I have to admit this place always seems to have the most interesting people
working here," said Audra as she watched Bessie walk off. It was not meant
as an insult. Just a side comment. The staff seemed to be part of the
entertainment.
"That they do.", he answered. When returned her gaze to her conversation
partner, she noticed that he hadn't taken his eyes off of her.
Audra felt her cheeks blush slightly. "Have you had a chance to do much
travelling your life?" She knew that his uncle was in Starfleet, but
she
did
not know too much about the rest of his family.
"Actually, yes. Not too terribly much while I was a kid, but once I joined
Starfleet I was all over the place. Sadly, most of the travel was all
work,
so I didn't have time to see any sites or enjoy my travels. But that is
what
you get when you are in Intell. In fact that is one of the reasons that I
wanted to get out of Intell and back into the fleet proper. They get to
enjoy
shore leave every now and again.", he answered ending with a smile.
"How about you?"
Audra nodded. "A bit even before I was in Starfleet. My father was an
engineer so he was able to travel to a number of worlds to work on
contracts. He
often brought us with him. Granted, it wasn't necessarily to the greatest
tourist attractions, but it did expose me to other peoples and cultures. I
think that is part of how I ended up in Starfleet."
"Why did you join up?"
It was a good question. "I have to say that I am not really sure. I think
it all goes back to travelling with my dad. I like getting out to see
things. Starfleet was the most exciting way to do that. Of course, it is
kind
of ironic that I am station on Spacedock, when you think about it."
"I know what you mean. I joined Starfleet to get away from my dad. He hated
Starfleet, and looked down on those that joined. While he doesn't like my
choice to join, and I hear about it every chance he gets to tell me, being in
Starfleet has brought us closer. Oddly enough."
