Melora Damesh returned to the Cardassian embassy upon returning back to the station.  The visit to Cardassia had not gone well.  In fact, it could not have gone worse.  Professor Dulath was back on the station, and she had no doubt that he was going to be given sanctuary by one of his Council friends.

She walked past the reception area without giving much notice to her staff and made her way to her office.  She almost wished the station had old-fashioned type doors since it would have allowed her to slam the one she had just past through.  Instead, she just slammed her PADD down on her desk.  It was not nearly as rewarding as the other option would have been.

She turned and activated a comm line to Cardassia Prime. It did not take long for her to make the connection with the person she was hoping to talk with.  It was Doran Dulath, her father, who also happened to be in charge of the Obsidian Order.  His eyes began to sparkle as he recognized who was on the other end of the line.  "Melora, what a pleasure to hear from you.  I see you have made it back to the station?"

She nodded.  "And Golan Dulath arrived with me.  He has free run of the station while he is on 'vacation' here"

Doran smiled.  "I already no that, little one.  You do not have to tell me.  We are making sure to keep an eye on him."  He seemed unconcerned by recent turns of events.

Melora was a bit surprised by his willingness to be so laid back by things.  "Doesn't he pose a problem for our security?"

"My dear, things have changed a great deal since he was a part of the government.  We have other plans that he knows nothing about.  The only danger he poses is that others will know that we still have a problem with political dissidents.  There is nothing that we, or they, can do about that.  Besides, he may not be a problem for much longer."

Melora cocked her head to the side.  "What do you mean?"

"Let's just say you will know what I mean when it happens.  I must be off.  I have important business to attend to," said her father.  "I am glad that you called to let me know that you arrived back at the station.  It is always good to know that you are well."

Melora doubted that he needed these calls to know that, but she was always willing to do them if it eased his concerns.  "I will talk to you later then?"

He nodded.  "Of course, little one.  Enjoy your evening."  With that the line closed.

Melora decided she'd had enough for one day and left to go to her quarters.  She was feeling more positive about the situation.  In fact, she probably surprised her staff by saying "Good evening," on the way out the door.

To be continued....
