They arrived at the restaurant and were seated in a booth. The lighting was a
bit subdued and seemed to capture the feel of candlelight. There was an
older gentleman walking around the room, stopping at each table and talking
to everyone. Audra loved this sort of atmosphere. It was one thing that the
station seemed to lack.
"This is some place you've picked here, Audra. This is great. A great place
to two folks on a causal date. So far, my expectations are being met.
Perhaps I should be worried that yours may not..."
"I wouldn't worry about that too much." Audra smiled and her eyes seemed to
sparkle as they could the light from the nearby candles. A moment later,
the gentleman came over to this table.
"Ahhh ... It would seem that some new folks have decided to join us," he said
to the nearby patrons. "Let me welcome you to Sisko's. My name is Jake
Sisko, and ask and ye shall receive. Perhaps, I can start you off with
something to drink?"
"Ladies first..."
Audra nodded her head in appreciation. "Thank you, Jake. Could you start
me with a white zinfandel?"
"I would like a beer. Any type of lager that you have on tap would be
great."
Jake's face brightened as a smile spread across his face. "It would be my
pleasure. Before I go, let me leave the menus withy," he added as he placed
to small PADDs on the table. "Please feel free to ask any questions about
any of the entrees." With that, he was off to the bar.
Audra watched as Jake walked away before turning to her date. "I haven't
been here since I was at the Academy. I think that Jake and his family are
the main reason that a lot of people come here. For the most part, they make
you feel like you have been invited into their home for dinner."
"I don't doubt it. It is a rare thing to truely feel welcome in a
restuarant, and even more so for one that gives you the impression that you've
come
home. I missed out not coming here..."
"Well, I am sure that you had some great experiences growing up. We all
have these kinda of places that we hold special in our hearts."
"That is true. Unfortunately for me, those places don't include places that
are frequented by Starfleet personnel. My father was, and still is, very much
opposed to anything and everything that is Starfleet. But that's another story
for another time."
