Subject: [Spacedock] Old and Interesting SPD Post

I'm going through SPD from 1995-96 and found one below very interesting.
BTW, Pete, Lorin's arrival on Spacedock is included in a series of posts. I'm
going to work on this tonight. Posts, whenever they are up, should be
available at http://www.stargame-redux.org/Archive/Spacedock/spdfiles.html.
I'll email passwords to individuals upon request.

>"Admiral Halok, don't back down now," t'Llhweiir said. "If I did not
>want to hear what you had to say, I would not have wasted my time, or
>yours, with this meeting."

"Actually, sir, I'm . . . " he pauses, searching for the right words.

"I'm just wanting to know what in the name of the Stars is coming up
next. If this change you've announced is so important, at least
enough to call the meeting and there are some details you want to
share with us in personal meetings, then I'm concluding that
something's happening. What is it?"

>Chane frustrated somewhat with Halok finally says.
>"What is the answer you are looking for Halok. A meeting doesn't have to be
>"Important" for us to meet.
>The more we communicate the better we function. Were you expecting to hear
>something?"

Halok looks over at the heretofore silent Admiral Chane. "I'm expecting
to hear something from Vice-Admiral t'Llwheiir, at the moment." John's
answer was curt and certainly had no humor in it as he turned back toward
t'Llwheiir.

Chane was displeased with Halok's response and lack of disrespect for rank.
Yes Halok is an Admiral, but Rear Admiral at that. Chane certainly outranks
him, however bickering over this is not condusive to procduction and running
Starfleet. Chane mentally notes this and continues his silence.

t'Llhweiir listened and watched the interchange, learning about the
personalities she would have to work with as she did. Finally, she
intervened. "Admiral, I have been acting CinC for a total of 2 and one
half hours. As soon as I find out what's going on myself, I'll let you
know."

> After everyone else is finished, McIlhenny suggests. "Well, with all due
> respect to everyone, we all have important business to attend to. I suggest
> we
> adjorn this meeting so we can get those tasks completed unless there are some
> other thingsanyone needs to bring up at this time."

"Agreed," t'Llhweiir replied. "Unless there's anything further."

(response)

"Meeting adjourned," she said, standing. "Admiral Chane, Admiral
McIlhenny, please remain."

After the other flag officers left, t'Llhweiir's body seemed to relax,
though not in any easily discernible manner.

(ooc: i'm going to presume that the three know one another very--at least
on a professional basis.)

"What in Areinnye's name was going through Damian's mind when he named me
temporary CinC? I'm surprised that someone didn't again question my
Romulan ancestry and former connections with the Tal Shiar. The whole
thing is political madness."

(response?)

t'Llhweiir ends.
