The 50 characters was a suggestion :) I could live with a oneline
summary then longer messages separated by a blank line.
My biggest fear with the 50 character limit was 'fixed bug' type
of commit messages.
I like the summary and then extended detail separation... add in IDEs in
addition to e-mail/RSS as a place where that's really handy. The limit
is an interesting idea, but I don't want to have to figure out how to
stuff my summary into 50 characters. I have a hard enough time cramming
a thought into a 140 character twitter message.
