Currently, the only change required is to spacewalk-setup to allow the 12.1 version in the installer. Everything else remains the same. The SQL for 11.2 is unchanged (and should remain unchanged) for 12.1. There are no plans from our side to change the Instant Client requirement from 11.2 to 12.1 as the former client supports all RDBMS versions from 9 to 12 anyway. > We had no plans on providing support for 12c within Spacewalk, since > PostgreSQL is our primary DB and would need to review internally for the Red > Hat team on if we have resources available to run our own automation on a > nightly basis that includes 12c. I'm happy to work with you on that automation so that Oracle could run it on our internal systems, if that helps. Currently, I'm still working on the SUSE team's spacewalk-test-suit code, but if you have an existing automation system that can test Spacewalk, I'd love to hear about it. > I think we'd try to work with Oracle in reviewing and applying patches if > they make sense and then determine if we want to officially bless it - which > could be influenced by community requests/demand for it. Makes sense. Right now, I don't actually anticipate any major changes required to the codebase. I'll submit a pull request for the tiny change that allows installation on a 12.1 database. As I'm assuming there are no plans to remove Oracle support in the near/middle term, any future changes that modify SQL queries can then be run internally on both 11.2 and 12.1 to ensure compatibility.
