It is possible to run Oracle 11g as I have that on my spacewalk server (0.5,
then 0.8), but I put it in from scratch. I can't think of any reason why it
wouldn't work just the way you describe below. /usr/sbin/rhn-satellite looks
for /etc/init.d/oracle or oracle-xe so you should be good with just changing
over to the new one.

Of course you will want to make sure it is running on the same ports as xe.

YMMV.

Subject: [Spacewalk-list] Change from Oracle XE to 11gR2

Howdy,

I have a Spacewalk 0.7 server that has just hit the 4GB Oracle XE barrier. We
have a license for Oracle 11gR2 that I can use for this server.

Is it possible to do a migration? Something like stop Spacewalk, dump the
database in XE, Uninstall XE, Install 11gR2 and import, start Spacewalk?

Thanks for any pointers,

Mike
