Anything against adding 2183 and the patches from 2184? The Makefile.* stuff from 2184 I had lying around for 3.1 anyway and built my local copy with them applied the last month or so, so they should work. 2183 adds a test which makes a compilation fail if there are any warnings in spamc -- so for the normal build it will just warn until you run "make test" which will then fail at that test.
