Are you executing this from the current directory, as in
"./rules_du_jour"?  If so, at this point you may be trying to
overwrite the script you are running, which is generally A Bad
Idea(tm).  Move the script to /usr/local/sbin/ or ~/bin/ or some such
and try again.
